What is Yucca
So what is yucca? Well there are several parts to this answer.First there is YUCCA ROOT. Yucca Root is a staple at mealtime all over the world. It is served daily in the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa. It is a close cousin to Cassava and Agave.
The Yucca Root has many of the same benefits of our proprietary schidigera yucca extract. These benefits have been studied, categorized, promoted, and sold for thousands of years across many civilizations.

A brief summary follows.
Yucca Root ingredients prevent oxidative stress and cell damage. The large quantities of Vitamin C offer many benefits throughout the whole body. Manganese heals rheumatoid arthritis. Headaches, especially migraines, are eradicated with yucca root. Cognitive function is enhanced via the potassium and folate. It helps ulcers, gastritis, and many gastrointestinal imbalances. Yucca absorbs cholesterol and helps regulate cholesterol levels. It improves skin appearance by protecting skin from pathogen and oxidative damage. It enhances circulation and lowers blood pressure.
If the reader is interested in more information, there are plenty of sources on the internet which will document the health benefits and even provide sources and recipes.
In essence, Yucca Root was the first product to have so many health benefits documented. The issues are several. Yucca Root is a carbohydrate and you have to eat a lot of it on a regular basis. This is not a supplement. It is a regional dietary staple. It is not available in my grocery store.
The Entire Yucca Plant.
So what is that? Yucca is part of the Agavoideave family of shrubs and trees. A Yucca Plant has much more than a root. It has bark, stems, flowers, tubulars, etc., all above ground.
www.succulentadvisor.com reports there are 61 known types of yucca growing in north and central America. They come in all shapes and sizes. All are incredibly drought tolerant. Some have edible flowers. Only a select few have medicinal properties and even less have been formally studied. To understand the general health benefits of yucca, it is useful to re-read the benefits of yucca root, above. Many over-the-counter lotions, topicals and supplements tout the health benefits of yucca and will almost certainly bring benefit to the user.

The documented and widely researched components of this product are
1) Saponins
Saponins treat fungal and yeast infections. They are a natural antibiotic. They protect against viruses and act as a natural cortisone. Dietary saponin reduces cholesterol levels. Saponin is a natural surfactant with fat soluble and water soluble moities. It is a free radial scavenger.
2) Resveratrol
In recent years Resveratrol has become a popular supplement in it’s own right. Found in red wine and certain berries, it helps lower blood pressure. It is an anti-oxidant and improves aspects of cholesterol. It is anti-aging and slows cognitive decline. It activates AMPK, a protein that keeps blood sugar low by metabolizing glucose. Resveratrol reduces inflammation and eases joint pain. It protects against cartilage deterioration. Research has shown that certain components of resveratrol, its methoxyderivatives and yuccaols are found exclusively in this proprietary extract.
3) Phytonutrients
Phytonutrients are natural components in plants that may have health benefits to humans. There are a wide range of phytonutrients found in fruits and vegetables. In this case, yucca phenolics or “yuccaols” inhibit the generation of free radicals in blood platelats. They have an inhibitory action against platelet aggregation, which is a market of inflammation.
History
The creator of this formulant, Doug Widdifield, has worked with several Universities around the world over the last 40 years. Of particular interest is the study conducted by Peter R Cheeke, Professor at the Linus Pauling Institute of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, His article in the Journal of Inflammation in 2006 documents some of the incredible healing benefits of schidigera yucca and explains that Doug’s proprietary extraction process brings certain components of “resveratrol, its methoxy derivative, and yuccaols … represent exclusively in this product. They are not present in other extraction methods.”
Full details and much more documentation on the health benefits of this proprietary yucca extract can be found here:

Other research has been done at the University of Lodz, Poland. Earlier than that Doug worked with the University of Georgia, the University of Guelph, in Canada and still others.
It has extensive applications in agriculture and animal husbandry. It is used to improve growth rates and reproduction in everything from fish to cattle. It reduces waste odor in large agricultural operations. Steroid saponins can be used as a food grade surfactant. This yucca is used in pet food to increase digestibility and in pet deodorizers. It improves cholesterol in chickens!
